Ex's

This is my first entry on talblog, so yes, it's taken me this long to think of something "important" to write about. So waste some time and read on.

I ran into a high school girlfriend at a bar here in b-more last Tuesday. I'm originally from Philly, so running into here of all places is a bit strange. It's been 8 years, so I hardly recognized her. Quite honestly, if she hadn't introduced herself as Megan I would have thought she was a stranger. Anyway, it's like she wants to play catch-up and I'm really not into rehashing old memories and retelling my past 8 years. Call me selfish, insensitive, or mean, but I'm just not interested, ya know? I mean she was cool, that was cool, but it was high school! Time to put that behind you. She introduced herself and I literally stared at her with nothing to say.

Has this sort of thing happened to any of you? Please feel free to share with the rest of the class yer feelings, stories, etc.

Dam, your cold! Bad highschool experience? hehehe...just kiddin. I know that feeling though. I've gone back to my hometown and seen people at a bar and rapped with them for a while...just bullshit though, nothing even important to say. But eh, never bothered me that much. Now ex's though...that's different and depends how the relationship ended...but still an uncomfortable setting none the less. Some relationships mean more to others. Sounds like yours didn't in this case.

dear selfish, insensitive and mean,

you're not alone. some people just seem to think high school was the greatest, usually b/c they have very little to show for the past 4-8 years. i personally can't sympathize with you, seeing as i never had a real boyfriend in high school, but i did recently see my sophomore/junior year uber crush and WOAH, let's just say time has been kinder to me than him. what a difference contacts make. of course he probably still thought i was stalking him, b/c i just stared in awe at how big his nose had become, just like in highschool spanish class.

it's always nice to say hi and get a slight recap of time lost, but sometimes it's reassuring to know that you've moved on and some haven't. congratulations kurtsy cakes.

Harsh man, very Harsh.
Haven't you seen Flatliners? She'll come back from the grave and kick the shit out of you.
Seriously, I met a high school sweetheart (not mine) at a bar some 15 years after Grad. All the guys would have given their left..Um..EAR!(Thanks Vincent) to date her back then. At that time I had already been married for 5 years. She was still single and scanning the room for Mr. Right. She was still very pretty.
Kind of sad, really.
Only because I knew she was the marrying type trying to find someone she could love as much as herself.
I really hope she has.

There are a few people I keep reconnecting with here and there. Ex's? I had too many zits in high school to hold a real girlfriend.

Actually, I have recently reconnected with a buddy of mine from when I was 2 years old. We lost touch in college and he is now living with his little brother (I still think of him as 7 years old). I think the wierdest thing about it is that you don't see them as people when they are talking to you.. more as memories like "wow you look bloated" or "member that time when we..."

strange, how we are all old now.

Speaking of kids when you were 2 years old... I've been seeing kids around from my early youth. Except there still 5 years old! IS THAT FREAKY OR WHAT? You know, like that kid you remember from grade school that maybe picked his nose alot, or had a poopy pants incident and you haven't seen since? Then one day you walking on the Bruce Trail and the same kid walks by holding his Mom's hand, only its 20 years later and he still exactly the SAME!
Do you think there is a treatment for this?
I'm thinkin' if he says "Hi Rob!" I'm gonna flip out!
