Athfest weekend

I went to Athfest this past Friday night - it is a weekend of (mostly) local bands for 3 nights of fun in Athens, GA. I only stuck around for the first night, but got to see my friend Matt Lisle's band Fairburn Royals at the Caledonia Lounge. Then we went over to the 40 Watt and saw Magnapop and The Whigs. They are just too cute! I love small venues - I can't stand the huge crowds anymore - which is a shame since Kurt and I will be going to Curiosa and the Pixies in the next couple of months. Local music rocks!

KROQ is getting all geared up for Curiosa out here. giving away loads of tickets... i try to win, but usually get cut off and some annoying hoochie wins my tickets. ah well.

was "widespread panic" at Athfest? they're a big "athens" band, right? becky and my's cousin went to UGA (that's the one in athens, right?) and is a HUGE fan...so she lives there now and last i heard she was working for their marketing team or something.

her name is Jaclyn Parrish. really pretty, long dark hair, but i don't like her very much.... she accused me of cheating during a game of "go fish" when we were seven and i've never forgiven her. I JUST PICKED UP THE JACK WHEN I WENT FISH!!! she thought i was harboring it.

look, i was really upset by it, b/c no one believed me. i even went and hid under the bunk beds b/c everyone thought i was crazy. i take my card games very seriously. but anyway, yeah she was probably at Athfest.
