Posted by: brett at May 4, 2005 10:26 AMI recommend you stay away from cooking calamari, unless you're planning to use it in a cold salad or something. I fried some once and was disappointed both by the results and the long-lingering smells that permeated the house. I think you really need a good stove hood to be able to fry calamari.
Off-tangent on mussels: you should totally get out and buy some smoked mussels (usually eaten cold). Absolutely delicious.

I'm just wild about saffron..... and saffron's wild about me
do you really want to learn how to cook "sherry" well? isn't that something you add while cooking other things? i am neither a fan of calamari, mussels, or capers... so please refrain from testing out your bobby flay skills while i'm visiting in san fran.
i am very happy to help you make guacamole, margaritas, enchiladas and cakes while in town. also, i hear saffron is difficult to master. buena suerte!
Posted by: missy at May 4, 2005 11:43 PMMussels are the easiest! Just steam them with some nice white wine and have them over linguine with some freshly sauteed veggies!
