IDG News Service, YAHOO! AND FLICKR MAY GROW CLOSER, By Juan Carlos Perez: Yahoo! may build links between Yahoo! Photos and Flickr, though it has no plans to consolidate the photo-sharing services. "There are no plans to merge Yahoo! Photos and Flickr," said Will Aldrich, Yahoo! Photos director. "But there are exciting integration opportunities." Aldrich declined to speculate on ways the two could be linked. Although Yahoo! Photos and Flickr are run independently of each other, their respective teams collaborate and share ideas, he said. Evidence of this is the photo tagging and sharing features that Flickr popularized and that are now being incorporated into Yahoo! Photos, he said. (Online pick-up by PCWorld and Network World).
CNET, YAHOO! PHOTOS OUT OF BETA, By Elinor Mills: Yahoo! is taking its new photo site out of beta for U.S. customers. The new Yahoo! The beta version of the site came online in June. The new version of the site includes tagging of photos, smart folders, ajax drag and drop photo organizing, single click tag editing and a simple photo editor. Storage space in Yahoo! Photos is free, though early users of the new system are reporting that there is still a 300 image limit to albums and a 5MB limit to individual photo size. The new site will be limited to US users for now but will roll out to users around the rest of the world in coming months, according to InfoWorld’s coverage.

CMP TechWeb, AT&T, YAHOO! UPGRADE PHOTO SERVICE, By Antonio Gonsalves: AT&T Inc. and Yahoo! Inc. on Thursday launched an upgrade of their photo service that lets users tag photos for automatic updates to online albums. The new version of AT&T Yahoo! Photos is geared toward making it easier for subscribers to share photos over PCs and mobile devices. The photo tagging, or labeling, feature makes it possible for the service's Smart Albums to detect newly marked photos and automatically add them. "AT&T Yahoo! Photos enables users to spend less time maintaining their photo collections and more time viewing and sharing them with family and friends," Will Aldrich, director of Yahoo! Photos, said in a statement. (Online pick-up by iTNews)

Red Herring, AT&T AND YAHOO! TEAM UP AGAIN, By W. Tanaka: AT&T and Yahoo! on Thursday rolled out a digital photo-sharing service, the latest in a string of offerings between the two tech giants. The new service, AT&T Yahoo! Photos, gives AT&T another free perk it can offer its 7.8 million DSL subscribers, and it potentially gets more consumers to use the newly upgraded Yahoo! Photos service. The service includes features such as photo-tagging and online “playlists” of photos that automatically recognize and add tagged photos to online albums.
Earth Times, YAHOO!, AT&T LAUNCH YAHOO! PHOTOS, By Ravi Chopra: AT&T Inc. and Yahoo! announced the launch of the new AT&T Yahoo! Photos, a web-based photo service, offering better conveniences at sharing photo collections, including digital photos. Yahoo Photos is Yahoo!'s original photo storage and management site. The company had acquired Flickr in March 2005 when it bought Ludicorp Research and Development, a privately-held Vancouver company that ran it. Flickr has been highly successful in creating an online photo sharing and management system and it has become a model for many such service providers, including Google, which is now updating its Picasa service.
AFX Asia, AT&T, YAHOO! LAUNCH NEW ONLINE PHOTO SERVICE: AT&T Inc and Yahoo! Inc are launching launching a new online photo service, AT&T Yahoo! Photos, the two companies said in a statement. The service will give users a forum to post photographs online.
Moneycontrol Techblog, YAHOO! PCWorld (blog), NEW YAHOO! PHOTOS—FULL-RES FILES AND DRAG –AND-DROP, By Eric Butterfield: The new version of Yahoo! Photos, announced today, gives your browser a make-over. Gone is the need to click those "add photo" buttons one at a time, over and over (don't know how I ever mustered that task). Now, you can drag-and-drop images to your photo library--a feature that the company likens to Apple's iPhoto software. This feature isn't unique among photo sharing sites--you can do the same thing with Flickr, Kodak EasyShare Gallery and Shutterfly--it's just that those sites require you to download a software application to do so. No need to use software with Yahoo! Photos. Everything happens in the browser.
PCWorld (blog), NEW YAHOO! PHOTOS NOW LIVE, By Harry McCracken: The folks at Yahoo! have told me that they hope that people will use Yahoo! Photos as a primary photo management and repository tool. I'm not ready to go there for two reasons: The editing features remain very, very basic, and performance--at least with my particular DSL account--is sometimes Webbishly (is that a word?) sluggish, not desktop-like in speed. But if you're using an online photo service, you need to check this one out. The nifty new version of Yahoo! Photos that's been in beta for awhile is now open to all.
what the hell is that second comment? like a damn essay.
