We went and saw "The Departed" last night, which was a good movie.
Loren was amazed at how many laughs the scenes of incredible violence got. At first, I didn't really notice, but after thinking about it last night he was right. Why is that? Did resevoir dogs ruin us all forever?
There were many scenes of legitimate humor in the movie: Marky Walberg was a hilarious cop who in most of the movie looks like his head might explode. All the guys play their favorite boston "southie" guys - Damon, Di Caprio.
Jack Nicholson has a great performance as he transforms from a relatively unstable bad guy to an actual madman - and he does it slowly enough to let you see the transition. A couple of scenes remind me of the shining. The movie was too long though, but aren't all movies that way now? I think it was about 2:30, but I didn't notice.
Anyways, go check it out. I don't know what else to say.
Posted by jeremie at October 18, 2006 9:14 AMbecause violence is all we see nowdays, we're used to it and it's become humorous in movies...ever watched the news? I mean the news on channel 7 or something. It's no wonder movies like "Saw" get trilogy's and make a ton of money. It was a good movie.
