Justin will be proud of me. I just headed down to purple skunk with the trucks he bought me for christmas and got them to set me up with a nice big ol' cruiser surfer longboard to bomb the hills around my house. What is better (or worse) is that this skateshop is two blocks from my apartment...

I couldn't believe how smooth the ride was. Partly because of the fat soft wheels the size of my fist, partly because of the spring in the bamboo deck. If I didn't mention it already, my dad funded my deck as a christmas present - which was great because it made me feel like I was 8 years old again... He called last week and said "Did you get your deck yet?", which made me smile.

Now I just have to convince Loren or Brett that they want to bomb hills as much as I do, so I have some friends to ride with...

Unbelievable how much different gliding is on this vs. my other skateboard. One push on this beast takes me about 20 feet.
Posted by jeremie at January 28, 2007 12:54 PMI will BOMB hills all day. call me and I'll be there. You have my word.
Posted by: loren at January 28, 2007 10:14 PMhow are the trucks?
Posted by: Justin at January 29, 2007 5:00 AMThat looks like an Arbor Pin? Or an Arbor Fish?
Posted by: Jonathan at January 29, 2007 7:14 AMArbor pin... The trucks are great, though I have to figure out the mechanics of them, since I am unable to tighten them any more (though I don't think I should tighten them more than they are)
Man you get some speed on that thing - and bamboo is nice and flexy...
Posted by: jeremie at January 29, 2007 2:16 PMi would crash and die. get a dirtbike with me and we'll bomb dirt bike hills on those instead. I'd have less of a chance of dying than on one of those things. flatground LA beach style might be a different story, but then again i'd have to get some bomb sandals to ride one of those thing. ;) you know what i'm talk'n about.
Posted by: brett at January 29, 2007 3:33 PMI am not a hippie.
Posted by: jeremie at January 29, 2007 5:08 PMLet me try again. How do you think it would do with you hanging on the back of the truck a 50Kph???
flashbacks?
Heh... actually, these ones are built for speed!
Posted by: jeremie at January 29, 2007 7:49 PMSpeed wabble = ride the nose.
Man those Abec 11 wheels are SWEET. What kind of bearings?
i wish we could ride together!
Posted by: Justin at January 30, 2007 4:22 AMI think Rob has Seismics so could speak more to the truck adjustment/tightening. I don't think you tighten Siesmics as much as just go and pick up a stiffer spring?
For sure it will be turny though with those trucks.. perhaps a bit less stable than Randals at higher speeds, though Rob or others could speak to that.
I dig the bamboo/green wheel combo, that is classic. If you find the bamboo gets dirtied up but you want to brighten it up a bit from time to time, you can just apply a damp sponge soaked with hot water and wipe it down. Sounds kind of 'naff but it's always nice to see the veneer.
speed and that thing just don't go together. quit kidding yourself. it's a mellow board dude bra.
(man i wish i could see how angry you were get'n right now)
ps. the graphics are cool...and you know i love you...not like that though ya hippie!! O.o
