Russian River

Last Saturday we went up to the russian river for what is known as "barrel tasting". Basically, you drop 10 dollars and get a glass and a wristband, then for the rest of the weekend you have a pass to go to every winery in the region, and they fill you up with a taste, er, or gulp. Since some of the wineries had about 12 to taste from, I don't really remember saturday.

Some highlights

1) We got to sleep in the "inlaw" of the cottage that our friends rented. It was a shed in the back with one wall that was the stump of a burnt out old redwood tree. Neat!
2) Food samples with all the wine - bbq ribs, paella, shredded skirt steak. Think costco sample counters manned by chefs
3) The very fact that it was 10 dollars for the whole weekend! This doesn't happen anymore.
