I'm sure I'll get some takers

Dirt road, new car...

We (loren, kelly, becky, me) were driving along a gravel road this weekend on the way back from bass lake, and clatter rrrratttle clatter [not the sound of something good] around the front left tire. Loren got out and started walking with the car as I rolled it forward. It sounded WRONG.

We got out of the car and pulled over, and started tapping at the wheel, wheel well and behind around the axle and rotor. Oh, look at that! a rattle in the rotor shield cover. What the hell is it? Let's take off the tire!

We start digging and loren noticed that a stone somehow jumped up and fell in the "hole" that sits right next to the axle.

It dropped down into the space between the shield and the rotor. Stuck... with no way out except the little holes it came in on. We were tool'less in the woods so BEcky and Kelly found some sticks and he started pokin at it from underneath while I looked from above and tried to grab the lil bugger when it popped up. I was paranoid and didn't want to drive with it scraping the hell out of things... especially since the car was bought about 3 weeks ago and I haven't even made the first payment yet.

After about 1.5 hours the little bastard plopped out, sadly. I think it laughed at us and ran down the path. I owed loren and kelly some beer for their patience. Thank you guys for not making me drive with it in there!

Just started choking to death. Slowly... .menus.... no... all the .... recorded... programs.... guh.

I don't know what I am going to do now. I can no longer watch commercials, it is against my whole nature. I am waiting for loren to get back in town so he can tell me how to drop a new drive in.

Hate

The average for a one-bedroom apartment in the Bay Area climbed nearly 7 percent, to $1,218, according to a quarterly report by RealFacts. In Silicon Valley, where the fallout from the dot-com blowout drove rents down by about 30 percent, the average rent ticked up 9 percent to $1,259 amid a strengthening economy and improving corporate profits.

The average mortgage payment Bay Area buyers committed to paying in June was $3,183, DataQuick said.

Gualala, Ca

Last weekend Becky and I went camping with Missy, Kelly, Brett, Erica. Here is a cool photo of a campfire:

campfire.jpg

Highlights include me swimming across a 2 foot deep river in order to pop the cork on Kelly's aerobed they were trying to use as a floatation raft. They were pretty pissed in a non-joking kind of way... cept brett who kept paddlin and drinkin his crappy budweiser.

From Gualala, which is tucked in a wierd little grove of Eucalyptus and Redwoods, you can walk a mile to the beach, which is covered in driftwood. We thought it would be foggy so we didn't bring our beach stuff. Bummer, because it was beautiful there.

At the campground we ate ourselves silly and I started drinking booze because our water was wierd tasting. That lasted about 5 hours and I don't even remember being drunk. I just remember the horrible camping hangover the morning after. I am on a bit of a beer-fast for a little while. Sticking to passion fruit iced tea (the kind rocco gave me a while back)

I would have to say though, hands down the best part of the deal was kelly's great breakfast. Eggs, pancakes, bacon and coffee all built on a campfire. Damn!

Oh, and we can't forget brett's favorite game of BEANHOLE - a classic horseshow style game of tossing a bag through a hole for points. Rob - you should build one of these for your camper. Hours of fun.

To Many Damn Links

Hey there...

This talblog is turning into linkfest! I need to get rocco a face so he stars writing something real.

Anyways, Loren has been flying all over the universe now that he is a paraglider guy, and he takes some pretty great photos doing it.

Check em out on flickr:

Now that we are all inspired by Loren's amazing photographic journeys... someone post some stories about what is going on in your part of the continent!

Rob? Justin? (post a photo... we hear you shed some pounds boy!) Missy? Brett? Kurt? Liz? Matt? Jesus?

Don't you pop at me girl. I'll pop at you so you'll never forget it. You get your black ass outta here.
"Holding her is dangerous..."
"What I supposed to do? Stash her in a little itty bitty hole someplace in nigga town and go sneakin up there at twelve o'clock at night."
"She'll die before she tells you anything."
"Or carry her around with me in a little box like a pet bunny rabbit or sumpinlike"

Retired The Rav

This was a great weekend. I retired the rav (actually, I am selling it tomorrow) and bought my first new car! Not only that, but the day after becky and I picked it up from the dealer, we drove it up north to Eureka. Nothin like a road trip to break in a new vehicle. It is amazing up there, and if you live or visit california, driving way way up north is a must. We hiked and drove through redwoods, Hiked the beach and some rivers... walk around the harbors and old victorian streets. It was great.

Here is a picture of the new little tal-mobile in the big big redwoods, and a couple of others Becky took of the area...
