State of the Union (a little belated analysis)

So I'm sure EVERYONE tuned into the latest SOU. You will all be happy to know that the Prez's most popular word was "Iraq". Check out the image for more info. I "borrowed" it from somewhere in the ether.

Cruisin' Californ i a

Justin will be proud of me. I just headed down to purple skunk with the trucks he bought me for christmas and got them to set me up with a nice big ol' cruiser surfer longboard to bomb the hills around my house. What is better (or worse) is that this skateshop is two blocks from my apartment...

arborfull.jpg

I couldn't believe how smooth the ride was. Partly because of the fat soft wheels the size of my fist, partly because of the spring in the bamboo deck. If I didn't mention it already, my dad funded my deck as a christmas present - which was great because it made me feel like I was 8 years old again... He called last week and said "Did you get your deck yet?", which made me smile.

Now I just have to convince Loren or Brett that they want to bomb hills as much as I do, so I have some friends to ride with...

Unbelievable how much different gliding is on this vs. my other skateboard. One push on this beast takes me about 20 feet.

1979 Time-Lapse-Stop-Motion-Motion

For the record, One of the guys in the foreground is my boss... Phil Tippett - Along with Doug Beswick, Jon Berg and Dennis Muren. Also, one of the guys who built the walkers was Tom St. Amand, who I had the pleasure of working with for a few months when I first started here...

Coolness.

I love Amanda Peet

Has anyone else been watching Studio 60? It's the show with the faster than life dialog.

I love this character for her. I've seen her in comedies(10 yards and Saving Silverman)
I hope they don't screw her up.
She's a cutey

Ron Mueck Sculpture

Art from this guy pops up in my inbox from time to time, and it is so damn impressive I thought I would pass it along. For anyone who hasn't seen his stuff before, it is pretty mind blowing. I would love to check it out in real life. Click the link to a washington post article that has some great photos that show the scale of the stuff... just incredible.

"With no formal art training, he perfected his skills in the commercial world of special effects, model-making, and animatronics."
