Oh cruel conversational irony

Not a week after Kelly left town... not a DAY after loren left town... does an old friend Christian arrive, looking for an apartment. So - We knew Kelly as she was crawling her way through optometry school... and our conversations included macular degeneration, crazy eye retinal folds, and other whacked out ocular problems.

Our conversation tonight with our new arrival centered all around the fact that he is double color blind! Double! Not only that, but we chatted about those crazy color dot tests... and he mailed me this:

He said, yeah, those just looked like a bunch of goddam dots...

Not only THAT, but it is the same picture that loren painted for kelly last year for her birthday. Literally... The Same... It kills me that these two couldn't have conversed for 5 minutes... that they couldn't have somehow intersected trips by 1 or 2 days. They probably passed each other on the highway across the country.

It really makes you think how interconnected the world is.

So long, Loren

I have to admit, I was pretty bummed out after saying by to Loren yesterday. A lot of friends have been evacuating San Francisco for cheaper pastures these days, and we'll miss hanging out with him and Kelly (who depressingly left last week).

Hanging out with loren is one of the reasons that I haven't turned into a lazy ass computer couch potato and actually pursued stuff like climbing, kite stuff (though not so much), etc Regardless - I wouldn't have picked up my skateboard again if he wasn't always outside being active. I hope I keep it up now that he is gone. Brett - you gotta watch out for me. Man - I should go to the skatepark again soon.

I didn't think he would be able to make the "I work from home or not at all" policy work for as long as he has after leaving Lucasarts. Congrats on that buddy... now you are going to Utah! ha.

Anyways, happy trails! We'll be watching www.underachievers[dot]com.

Our Campsite

Our Campsite

This weekend we camped at Andrew Molera State Park. It is pretty close to Big Sur, and one of those quintissential California amusement parks. The views were amazing, the terrain was unearthly, and the weather was perfect. Except for the wind that prevented us from looking at or standing near the fire during 'smores production.

All in all, it was a fantastic way to spend a weekend. Our tent was right under this tree, and we could hear it rustling all night. It really did put me to sleep. Our tent was cracked open so I could see the stars right before passing out, and the grass was soft and for once I didn't get jacked in the spine by rocks. Thanks Brett, Erica, Becky, Motley and Mika.

Hopefully, becky will post some of her pics too, because they turned out better than mine.

New West Coast Neighbor

There is another east coaster heading out West. Christian is joining you folks in the bay area with a new job starting in July. (Long time friend of Agro and others who spent time in B-more) He was nice enough to swing south on his cross-country road trip and spent a few days with us in the ATL. We had some good meals and good conversation. Now we'll have even MORE reason to visit the west coast.

Converted

It came last night... Turned it on, entered some information, and that's it. Done. No ads, no garbage earthlink freeware, no uninstalling, just clean and beautiful.

Plus, EA and ID software just announced their upcoming games are coming out on mac OS. There is no longer a reason for a pc.

Offshore Data Havens

So I think someone posted this a while ago, but I signed up with gomusic.ru "A portal of russian and foreign music" today cause I wanted the new Chris Cornell without having to pay money and find out its crap...

A) I'm probably going to hell
B) they are probably charging their new Nimitz class sub to my Visa as we speak
C) its 0.19 cents a song. $2 bucks a CD. Not bad for trying out a lot of crap I've been buying lately.

Picked up
!!!(Chk Chk Chk) - Myth Takes for like a $1.87 192kbps. Great CD if anyone asks
Shpongle - Tales of the Inexpressible. Great as well.

Classic

This an email that went out to the company this morning. Typical of this place, and why it is so awesome:

Looking for a tiny chainsaw for a regular size Leather Face action figure. A friend would like to borrow it for a birthday cake. ...Makes perfect sense, right?

Thanks

Heh.

Enchanted

I neglected to post the trailer for the movie I worked on at Tippett, which is coming out soon. As the post below says... the wrap party was this weekend. Check it out. If you are interested, I worked on the CG pigeons and helped out on the dragon shown in the trailer.

Another 6 months... yeah!

What'd you do this weekend?

I played Wii with Loren/Kelly/Brett/Erica/Becky for about 6 hours on sunday. It was ridiculous cool. Plus, while we played, I had ribs goin' in the slow cooker, so around 6:30 they came out and were fan-delish-tastic.

Saturday becky and I went up mt. Tam to the very top. I had never been there, and it was fantastic looking. Check the flickr link on the sidebar of the page. Then, that night was the tippett wrap party for enchanted (the last movie I worked on). I will post a link to the trailer soon. It was at a Mexican lounge called Tres Agaves. Freakin delicious mexican food and a top shelf tequila bar on Tippett. Yeah!
