Its October 2008 - 10 ago was the beginning of our last year at Maryland Institute College of Art. I am finally taking an oil painting class this year which will hopefully lead to more artmaking altogether. I've been trying to focus mostly on palette management, and watching the teacher carefully mix so that I don't feel so overwhelmed by the apparent mess. Here is the first painting I felt like posting (my third in the class). Hopefully they will improve so I can continue to post em up.
Our teacher's name is Randy Sexton. We are getting the class through work which is great. It's too short - only a 2 hour session - but I guess it keeps me focussed and I get to bang out a painting every week. It makes me want to do a longer pose of something at home.
This one was created with four colors - black, white, crimson and ochre.
I just wanted to throw a small shout out to everybody ..... sooo hiya. I hope all is well with everybody .... if i could embed a nice cricket mp3 for your enjoyment ... I would.

i cant sleep. (hence the title). i'm still too paranoid that a lurker is stationed outside my apartment. it sucks. i really need to move/find a new roommate. as for posting something, i really dont have anything to say. so you're welcome. - i've helped you waste some time.
rocco, sam is soooooooooooo cute! what a muffin...with a big schnoz.
rob, i couldn't laugh hard enough at your hydrogen cell experiment story. hilarious! i didn't understand much of your scientific jargon which made me sad b/c i'm pretty sure it was 7th grade level science. when the world goes to shit, i think i want you on my team, as we'll need you to be the "handy guy" who fixes everthing.
brett, i haven't actually watched your post yet. oops.
okay gonna go try to go to bed again....and hopefully wont dream of weirdos peering in my windows.
